Donate to Taos SCRAPS
Taos SCRAPS is registered as a for-profit company. As you can imagine, "profit" is far away as we grow the supply of materials, equipment, and eventually labor. Each member supports him/herself at the same time that food waste, manure, and wood chips are acquired and compost is cultivated.
The vision is to break even, then to have enough “profit” to add needed equipment, labor, and finally to reach a volume of pickups to make a modest living selling compost and compost products. Nothing would please us more than growing an operation that supports gardens, farms, ranches, workers, animals and people that eat from healthy Taos soils. And keeping food waste out of the landfill helps our area and benefits taxpayers by extending the life of the landfill.
If our mission aligns with your values, you may: 1) donate any amount to our support and growth; 2) buy an advanced bucket of mulch/compost for your garden (as cover or to mix with the soil) to be picked up or delivered at a later date; 3) bring manageable yard waste or manure (without de-wormer) to our facility, 4) volunteer as needed in the season; and/or 5) tell your friends and neighbors to subscribe to the pickup service. Of course your pick-up subscription is excellent support!
